Do you see yourself as a leader?

I am asking this question to myself. I always felt I was a worker bee nothing extraordinary about me. Then I became a nurse, in 1993 rural Wisconsin. I was married live on a farm had two children three horses some chickens a very mean rooster. We had rabbits pigs and fire shirt time two pygmy goats, dog and about 4 + farm cats.

I start nursing in long term care for five years I was a rural rn. I was ACLS certified, I worked two jobs sometimes three. I drew labs for insurance physicals, collected specimens did assessment physicals. I also taught a Certified Nursing Assistant class.

In 1993-94 my family relocated to Knoxville TN. I transitioned from long term care to acute care starting on med-surg to cardiac observation to ICU, MICU, I did Charge nurse and occasionally house supervisor, in 2000 I started travel nursing with my spouse kids were grown one married and one in the Army we did a three months contact in San Antonio Texas. My first travel assignment what a eye openner!

I traveled for six years whine going through a separation and divorce from my spouse if almost twenty years! I became a grand mother of five. I traveled myself to six States I learned so much from all my assignments. My longest assignment was a two years in Arizona. Six months in Washington state, and Southern California for almost five years.

I worked for some of the best hospitals and was six years at UCSD university hospital.

I obtained my masters in nursing and now I work for the County of San Diego as a Nurse Educator.

Do you see yourself as a leader?

“I am a compassionate and accountable healthcare leader who leads through education, collaboration, integrity, and advocacy. I believe in building strong teams, supporting staff growth, and creating a culture where residents receive safe, respectful, person-centered care.” Realizing I am and have always been a leader throughout my nursing career and even before.
